Boulder natives know that venturing up its twin highest peaks - South Boulder Peak (8,549 ft) and Bear Peak (8,461 ft) - is a hefty but rewarding hike. At certain points in the year, hikers are rewarded by regular inversions - that meteorological phenomena where dew points and temperature align…or misalign to provide cold temperatures below and warmer temperatures above. As a hiker, nothing is better than starting in a foggy haze and rising above to look down on a sea of clouds, especially at sunrise.
